With many new areas of expanded scope now available, in particular ordering/interpreting lab tests, it is in the public’s best interest to ensure that pharmacists are provided with ample opportunities to train.
Work with Dal CPE, PANS, and COP to provide appropriate training. This will help boost confidence. Maybe have older grads shadow new grads.
More specialized education will help build confidence…for those individuals that want to provide the newer services.
What the NSCP will do:
Direction 1 in the NSCP’s strategic plan is to Inspire Pharmacy Professionals to Provide Quality Care.
The following major initiative under this direction will help address the barrier of lacking confidence in clinical knowledge:
1. Support building professional confidence through collaboration with Dalhousie University and other education providers and stakeholders.
